On September 27, 2009, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Oregon Chapter, held it's first annual Firefighter Stair Climb - "Climb for the Cure". The climb was held at the US Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland, and had an impressive turnout of over 300 participants.
The climb was a timed race up 40 flights, (800+ steps), all while wearing full turn-out gear and scba tank and mask.
Central Coast Fire & Rescue's own Lt. Dennis Cannon participated in this stair climb, finishing in 17mins 32secs. The climb raised over $50,000 the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
