On February 6, 2009, Central Oregon Coast Fire & Rescue Volunteer Firefighters Association received a generous grant in the amount of $16,500 from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund. The grant money was used to purchase several new sets of firefighter bunker gear.
The new bunker gear will provide a higher level of protection to our firefighters when dealing with the higher intensity heat and hotter fires of today. The new gear will also allow firefighters to stay for longer periods of time in a super heated atmosphere to protect and save lives and property.
The volunteers of Central Oregon Coast Fire & Rescue District would like to express our thanks to the Siletz Tribe for their very generous donation, without which, the purchase of the new life saving bunker gear would not have been possible.
